Smoke Eliminators
Smoke is made up small particles, gases and water vapor. Water vapor
makes up the majority of smoke. The remainder includes carbon monoxide,
carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide, irritant volatile organic compounds, air
toxics and very small particles. Smoke Elimination is done through the use of an activated carbon filter, and the best air purifiers utilize both a HEPA filter and a carbon filter for the elimination of both airborne particles and odors caused by smoke. For commercial applications, we recommend the Airpura C600, with 26 lb. Carbon Bed and Tar Barrier filters for maximum smoke filtration in up to 2000 sq. ft. For organic smoke such as wildfire smoke and brush fire smoke, choose the Airpura equipped with the Anthracite Carbon. For chemical odors and smoke from burning plastics and non-organics, choose either the Zeolite filter offered in the Austin Air HealthMate 450+ or the Coconut Shell Blend offered in the Airpura C600.
